There are two types of people in this world: pet owners and people without lint rollers. In the world of pet owners, there also two types: those who decorate with pet-inspired décor and those who don't bring inanimate animals into their home. Do you have a needlepoint pillow with a pug that looks suspiciously like your own scrunchy-faced puppy? Does your Kitty Bank ($12) resemble your furry housemate? Make your vote below!

anything that relates to your pet, aside from pet-related toys and equipment, are tacky tacky tacky!
that includes your fridge magnet of your dog's breed, your bumper sticker that says "i love retrievers", anything glass or needlepoint, or framed photos that are larger than 4x6 or don't have a kid in them as well
I'm not as judgmental about pet decor as skigurl, but, generally, I'm not a fan. I don't mind a small framed photo or a cute hook for a leash, or even a stylish box for your pet's toys. Generally, I'm more amenable to things that are say, bone-shaped (for example) than things that actually look like your pet (like the bank pictured).
boxes for toys and hooks for leashes are what i would have defined as pet-related equipment...you need it BECAUSE of the pet...but any decorations just for the sake of having them (ie: serve no purpose to actually aid you in caring for your pet) - tacky LOL
I don't see the big deal of having a magnet with your pet's breed. I think magnets in general are kind of tacky, but at least one of a pet is cute compared to some of the alternatives. I also think some pet items can be cute if it's not overdone. For example, a knick knack on a book shelf is acceptable to me but needlepoint with the pet is a little too much.
Ok the kitten is a little creepy looking, but my pigeon has obviously inspired a lot of things around my house... There are tasteful ways to decorate with doves, I don't think they're tacky at all.
I will try to keep this post pleasant and not brimming with expletives.
I have pet items in my house. We have three pink puppy butts that hang in the back entry to hold our girls' leases and seat belts. I have a large and apparently tacky photo of the girls. My business revolves around animals and for promotional materials I had a kick ass photographer take photos of my dogs. My husband had one of the photos blown up and framed for a present and it hangs over the couch. I also have a really tacky mat in the entry way that has a dog on it.
As long as the house isn't covered in pet tchotchkes, I'm generally okay with them. I have pet sculptures for each of my dogs that have passed away (a Greyhound and a Rat terrier) and a few other tchotchkes like photos of our dogs but it's done tastefully; my house doesn't resemble a tourist shop of dogs.
However, if everywhere I look there's something DOG, that is tacky. There's a fine line between tastefully done and tacky.
